Relationships and Marriage
Relationships and marriage are a big step. But before you and your partner take that step, you should have a conversation about CF and the impact it may have on your relationship.
You and your partner will have many questions: What happens if CF affects my ability to have a job? What if CF prevents us from having children? What if we can’t afford our prescribed CF treatments?
Look for support groups in your area or find resources online that may help you navigate this topic, and plan for the future. You can also reach out to your CF Care Team.
CF and Children
Having children can be a challenge for people with and without CF.
It’s also important to talk about your personal life expectancy and the consequences that may have on your child and partner. You and you partner may get genetic counseling and carrier screening to assess the risk of your child also having CF. Talk to your doctor and ask questions about fertility or additional health issues for people with CF.
Be sure to check the Resources and Links section of CF Living to find other websites that may provide you with more info.
