Talk About CF

Have you told your friends, teachers or the kids at school about CF? It might be hard to talk about CF, especially if you don’t want to feel different from everyone else. You might think about keeping it a secret, but that may cause other problems. For example, your friends might notice if you cough frequently, or you may need to stay away from a friend that's sick to keep yourself healthy. If they know that CF is the reason why, they may be more understanding.

Most people with an illness like CF find that it’s helpful to talk about how they’re feeling. You may like talking to a local or online CF community, or you may want to talk to your friends and family. When you're looking for someone to talk to, you don't have to find someone who knows everything about CF. Just finding someone that is happy to listen might be enough to help you feel better.

Once you’re comfortable talking about CF, ask your parents if you can share your story with CF Living. You might be featured here one day and inspire others to talk about CF, too.
