Get Ready for School

Going to school is fun! You get to meet lots of new friends, learn new stuff, and try all sorts of fun activities. But don’t forget how important it is to stick with your prescribed CF treatment plan. If your doctor told you to do your prescribed CF treatments during the school day, it’s important to make time to do them.

You can do things to make sure your CF is easier to deal with at school.

Here are some ideas:

  • Talk to your teacher– Your teacher might not know what CF is, so it’s a good idea to talk about it. If you can’t think of what to say, you can go to the Cystic Fibrosis Research, Inc. site and download a classroom guide for your teacher.

  • Tell the kids at school– Other kids in your class might not know about CF. Some of them might even think it’s contagious. Ask your teacher if you and a parent or someone from your CF Care Team can talk to your class about CF.

  • Build a Power Pack – You should keep all the things you need with you at school. You might want your own box of tissues, a special case for any vitamins or enzymes you need, or even a bunch of extra snacks.
