Finding the Right Doctor
If your child is part of a CF Care Team, they can likely transition to an adult team at the same center. The adult CF Care Team members may be able to provide many of the same services for your child.
You can help ease the transition by making it gradual. Start by giving your child specific treatment tasks as soon as they are able to handle them. While your older child is still living with you, you may want to encourage them to go to doctor visits alone. That will help them begin their transition.
Whether your child is involved with a CF Center or not, there should be a period of overlap between their pediatric and adult care. Both providers should collaborate with you, your child and each other.
